Qualifications

I am a Consultant Paediatrician. My qualifications are BSc Hons MBBS MRCP FRCPCH Dip Pall Med.

I trained at The Middlesex Hospital Medical School, now amalgamated into University College London.

I gained an additional degree in Anatomy and Development in 1989.

I qualified in 1992, gaining my MBBS (general doctor's qualification) with Merits in Medicine (including Paediatrics), Surgery and Obstetrics and Gynaecology.

I passed my MRCP (Member of the Royal College of Physicians: London) in 1996. I am now a Fellow of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health.

My CCT (Specialist Accreditation) is in General Paediatrics (general children's health) with special interest in Community Paediatrics and Paediatric Palliative Care. This means that I am trained to work to a high level in general children's health issues and also the more specialised problems typically seen by Community Paediatricians such as Autism, Epilepsy, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Disability and developmental concerns. Training in Palliative Care has equipped me with expertise in dealing with difficult symptoms, including pain and spasticity, in addition to counselling and bereavement skills.

I gained extensive experience in General Paediatrics and care of the sick newborn child at Worcester Royal Infirmary and at The Walsgrave Hospital, Coventry.

I studied specialised Neurology (treating the brain) and Oncology (children's cancer) at Birmingham Children's Hospital, and covered General Paediatrics, Accident and Emergency and Paediatric specialities out of hours.

I have higher qualifications in epilepsy diagnosis and management (PET2).

I have considerable experience in Community Paediatrics gained in both Coventry and Worcestershire. I spent weekly sessions with CAMHS (Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services) in Leamington Spa to gain experience in Child Psychiatry, and trained in Palliative Care at Myton Hospice (adults and young people) and North Warwickshire (children).
